YorSpace is York's Community Land Trust dedicated to building a tangible solution to York’s housing shortage – by creating financially and environmentally sustainable homes designed to deliver a real sense of community.
Their first project, Lowfield Green, is a development of 19 low-carbon new-build homes in Acomb—designed to offer a sustainable and affordable way of living. Through a pioneering co-operative model, the project will deliver permanently affordable homes for the York community.
In April James Neward, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of YorSpace, hosted a site visit for members of the Mycelial Network of Community Asset Developers, local supporters, funders and People and Place peers.
Now just four months away from completion the homes are really coming to life with the cladding being added to the outside of the buildings. "Chosen by the residents (after hours of debating colours, shape and styles!) it is exciting to see the lovely warm terracotta colour as the first section of cladding to go up. With the windows and doors in place it’s easier to picture what this development will be like when it’s finished in just a few months!" Lowfield Green Co-op
